Are you an experienced finance officer with a meticulous attention to detail?

The Finance Officer will provide administrative support to the Operations team ensuring financial transactions are efficiently processed and financial records are accurately maintained so that financial reporting supports management of MSS operations and governance requirements.

This role requires a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or higher finance qualification; previous hands-on finance experience; experience using MYOB; a well organised and systematic approach; ability to processes data efficiently and accurately; and commitment to operating in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Operations Team with:
    • Accounts receivable and aged debtors, accurate data entry, sending invoices / statements each month and following up on enquiries.
    • Accounts payable data entry, tracking BPAY payments and creating ABA files
    • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) billing/invoicing
    • Community Aged Care billing/invoicing
    • Payroll data entry each week and double check of data every 2nd week
    • Collecting and collating data for financial audit and legislative compliance
    • Reconciling petty cash and EFTPOS transactions
  • General administration tasks, stock control, filing, finance enquiries and data entry.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality on all issues that relate to the organisation, service users and colleagues
  • Regularly review services to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and responsibilities of the employer and employee.
  • Be committed to continual personal and professional development to reflect the changing needs of the role and industry requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings.

Computer skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Office (including Word, Excel, Power Point), MYOB, Metcare and Careview.
  • The ability to learn new computer programs

  • Works under supervision but able to use own initiative within the Menzies Support Service’s policy and procedure framework.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills
  • Be proactive in ensuring all staff adhere to financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or higher finance qualification
  • NDIS worker screening check

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Complete data entry for accounts receivable and payable, to support the Operations Team to report to the CEO/ CoM.
  2. Support the Operations Team to ensure legislative compliance reporting is accurate and on time. This includes but is not limited to ACNC, on time lodgement and payment of all ATO liabilities and any other statutory reporting requirements.
  3. Participate in the annual external financial audit by ensuring accurate data entry, filing and reports are completed for each financial year.

Special Requirements

  • All staff are required to undergo a National Police Check and two year renewals
  • All staff are subject to and will be vetted against the NDIS worker screening clearance.
  • Staff are required to notify their employer immediately of any changes that may affect their Police Records, WWCC or NDIS worker screening clearance.
  • A current Victorian Drivers licence is required. Loss of licence or any licence infringement must be reported by the staff member to their employer immediately
  • All staff are required to complete a pre-existing injury or illness declaration.
  • All staff are required to sign a confidentiality agreement on appointment
